The experts and representatives of the authorities discussed the draft law on the liberalization of the electricity market at the round table in Kiev on the topic "Ukraine on the way to European rules of the market operation", organized by the CPI "Energobusiness" supported by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety.

Among the active participants of the round table was the Development Director of Ukrainian Energy Exchange Andrew Perevertaev who also presented his suggestions concerning the draft law under discussion.

The reform of the Ukrainian energy market will allow the people to freely choose their electricity supplier since January 2016, and industrial enterprises - in the current year. It is envisaged by the draft law "On the principles of electricity market functioning in Ukraine" № 10571 to be considered in the near future at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety. The adoption of this draft law is an important step towards the liberalization of the Ukrainian energy market, as it happened in Europe 12-15 years ago.

It is envisaged that the law will provide more opportunities for people and small business, reduce the burden on industry, create incentives for competition and investment, as well as the conditions for the fulfillment of the international obligations of the state on reform realization.
