Yesterday, October 27, the Seventh Ukrainian Gas Forum kicked off. Specialists and experts from the natural gas markets of Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Hungary and other European countries gathered to discuss current and strategic tasks on the gas market.

Egbert Laege, a leading specialist of the European energy market, presented the Ukrainian Energy Exchange at the forum. He took part as a speaker in the panel discussion "Natural Gas Market of Ukraine and Gas Infrastructure", speaking on the topic "Gas Exchange Trade - the Basis of Market Organization". According to him, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange has become an important element in the infrastructure of the Ukrainian gas market.

During the discussion, Egbert Laege emphasized: "Exchanges play a very important role in trading, providing significant opportunities for price and risk management to all market players."

He also noted that there is a need for gas supply programs, since the available volumes are insufficient on the market. “The increase in prices and decrease in sales volumes in Ukraine lately correlates with the situation in Europe. There is a problem of decreasing liquidity. We had our last opportunity to create an efficient liquidity hub in Ukraine last year. In the summer, when the PSO was canceled, there was a good opportunity to release additional volumes of gas to the market, but this did not happen."

С другой стороны, эксперт сказал, что эффективная инфраструктура в настоящее время уже существует в Украине и этим можно гордиться.
