Last week, on May 24-25, the Ukrainian Energy Exchange held a quarterly auction for the sale of untreated timber logging in the third quarter of 2021 by the Forestry Kiev regional and Kiev Forestry and Hunting Department. The sale included timber of both coniferous and deciduous species of various lengths and diameters. More than 2.5 thousand lots in total.

As a result of the auction, more than 159 thousand cubic meters of timber were sold for a total amount of UAH 250 million, which is 99% of the proposed volume. The rise in prices as a result of the competition amounted to 300-350%, and the record price increase by the participants - 340 steps.

Scotch pine accounted for the largest sales volume, where there was the greatest competition for lots, oak, ash, maple, hornbeam, elm, birch were also sold. In total, more than 180 participating companies competed for the victory in the auction.

"At the quarterly auction of the UEEX, almost all of the exposed volume was sold. The significant increase in prices is due to the shortage of timber on the market due to seasonal restrictions on deforestation. The results also indicate the growing interest of market participants in electronic auctions for the sale of timber logging by forestry enterprises", - commented on the results of the auction Oleksandr Kovalenko, CEO of the UEEX.

The Ukrainian Energy Exchange invites participants to the following auctions for the sale of untreated timber, held at UEEX on a weekly basis.
