In the first half of 2021, 1562 million cubic meters of natural gas were sold at natural gas auctions which is comparable with sales volumes in the first half of 2020. In total, during the first half of the year, 127 trading sessions were held in the medium and long-term market, and 4 trading sessions were held every day in the segments of the short-term market. Over the past six months, 52 new companies have been attracted to the auction.
The short-term natural gas market is actively developing. 13 million cubic meters of natural gas were sold on the UEEX Energy Trading Platform in 6 months. Trading in short-term standardized products allows market participants to buy / sell natural gas in the Within-Day and Day-Ahead markets, in GTS and UGS.
An important event is the opening of the opportunity to trade on the exchange for the Ukrainian GTS Operator; all the prerequisites have been created for this. Thus, at the end of June, the GTS Operator for the first time took part in trading on the short-term market of UEEX.
"We continue to develop the exchange market for natural gas in Ukraine. Comprehensive development of the long-, medium- and short-term market provides market participants with a wide range of trading instruments that allow them to effectively manage their own resources," - V. Briukhovetskyi, Operating Director of UEEX.
